Original antique map of the western hemisphere in stereographic projection, from the 5th "concise" edition of Stielers Hand-atlas containing 63 sheets. Border coloured by hand. The map shows principal cities, political boundaries, rivers and mountain ranges. Large portion of eastern and northern Greenland as well as large pats of Antarctica still remain unexplored. "Nimrod island" (marked with "?"), a phantom island which was later found out not to exist, is shown south-east of New Zealand.
Larger brown stain in the bottom left area, some smaller water stains along other edges, both not affecting the image and would not be noticeable when mounted. Moderately age toned.
