Steel engraved hand border coloured map of the Eastern Hemisphere by Carl Flemming. The map was published in one of the early editions of Vollständiger Hand-atlas der Neuren Erdbeschreibung, and is dated around 1840-1850. The lake Victoria is still remains undiscovered, Tasmania is still named Van Diemens Land. The outline of the Antarctica still largely unknown. An interesting feature - "Unions Felsen" island, a non existent island shown south of Madagascar, was omitted in the 1850 edition of this map.
Good condition, mid to heavier foxing and age toning, tiny closed tear on the top edge.
