The title of this original antique hand coloured steel engraved map of the world states "The World enriched by recent discoveries". It was originally published in the French "Universal atlas" (Atlas Universel) and contains map of the new and old hemisphere, 4 diagrams of astronomical systems (by Copernicus, Ptolemy, Descartes and Tycho Brahe), diagram of solar and lunar eclipse, chart of Earth's climate zones and illustration of the compass and wind rose.
Folded as issued. Some parts of the paper along the edges missing, not affecting the actual map. Overal stronger but even age toning.
