Highly decorative original antigue folding map of London, originaly published in a set of 25 maps called 'J. Scheda's General-Karte von Europa'. The map is decorated by sophisticated floral ornaments but also two engravings - 'The new house of parliament', in the time of publishing the process of (re)construction after the original Westminster palace fire in 1834 destroyed it., and also the new building of the 'Royal Exchanges (Börse)', which opened in 1844, after the previous Royal Exchange building was destroyed in great London fire in 1838.
Joseph von Scheda was a geographer and cartographer who was a Major General in the Austro-Hungarian military and led the cartography department of the Institute of Military Geography in Vienna.
