Die Alpen im Panorama

This book contains a collection of painted Alps panoramas of Tirol, Bayern and the Dolomites painted by H. C. Berann, father of the modern panorama map was born in Innsbruck, the heart of the Alps, in family with artistic background. His panorama painting career kicked off when he won the first prize in a contest for a panorama map of the Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse. He mostly painted panoramas of his home region - the Alps, however later in the mid and stage of his career he also cooperated with the National Geographic by which he was commissioned to paint his widely known ocean floor maps. In the 1980's he painted five large scale panoramas of the US national parks.

His unique style, using combination of vibrant colours, creating depth and drawing viewers attention by painting clouds in the sky and mist in the valley, painting delicate reflections on the water surfaces, became his signature.

The book contains 23 wide-angle panoramas including 1 fold-out panorama of the Dolomites. Each panorama map is indexed and contains a list of peaks including their height and other important features and landmarks. Each panorama has its own dedicated chapter, containing text about the local life, history, interesting places to visit etc. Numerous black and white illustrations of cities, villages, castles and other landmarks of the regions decorate the text pages.
