Original antique map of distribution of Christian countries around the world with hand-coloured borders and ocean areas, originally published in the early editions of the Sohr-Berghaus Vollstandiger Universal-Handatlas der Neueren Erdbeschreibung. The shape of the United States and missing lake Victoria suggests the map was made before 1854 (or 1855), although Prince Patrick Island (first discovered in 1853) is already present. The contours of the Antarctica remain still largely unknown. Another similar map of Islamic countries of the world was also published in the same atlas.
