Full title

Das Höchste Gebiet der Himalaya-Länder. Nach dem Standpunkte der Kenntnis in 1875

Original antique map of the highest region of the Himalayas, spanning from Kathmandu on the west to the western border of Bhutan on the east. The map is the result of the Great Trigonometrical Survey by India's central engineering agency Survey of India. One of the accomplishments of the survey, which ended in 1871, was exact measurement of the height of Mount Everest, K2 an Kanchenjunga, making this map one of the earliest maps showing the exact heights of the highest mountains in the world. Oddly enough, Mt. Everest is also labeled as Gaurisankar, which is a mountain lying between Kathmandu and Mount Everest.
