Charming and strikingly detailed mid-sized terrestrial globe by prolific German globe maker Ludwig Julius Heymann, presented as 'designed according to the latest and best sources' (...nach den Neuesten u. Besten Quellen Entworfen). Given this statement is true, with a fairly high level of confidence, we can narrow the year of production of this globe to 1885 - 1888 based on following observations:
The meticulously crafted map provides outlines of countries (including outlines of independent US states and territories), terrain is portrayed with hachures.
Fero meridian is used as a prime meridian (although Greenwich meridian was officially established as prime meridian in 1884, possibly prior to making this globe).
Few details on the map are noteworthy:
Generally rather clean and well preserved globe with occasional minor abrasion or scuffing. Original top nut is missing and replaced by a modern one.
