Atlas de Paris et de la Région Parisienne

This very large and very heavy atlas comprised of 92 individual sheets (from which 85 have maps) stored in a folding boards covered in cloth. The atlas contains maps and visualisations of statistical data, covering history, physical geography, demography, economy, agriculture, industry, transport, tourism etc. It took five years and work of roughly 100 people under the direction of Jacqueline Beaujeu-Garnier and Jean Bastié (both became later presidents of the Société de Géographie in France) to deliver this phenomenal atlas. Paul Delouvrier, prefect of the Paris region and author of the preface stated that "there is hardly any atlas in the world comparable to the one with which Paris and its region are equipped today".
